Network icon (or right-click on the Network
Neighborhood and choose Properties.
Under the Configuration tab, you should find
the TCP/IP protocol configuration for your
network card.

If you don’t see TCP/IP as a choice in the
Configuration window, you’ll need to install
it from the Windows installation disk.
Here’s an abbreviated way to install it from
the Network Configuration window. Follow
the prompts:

Click the Add button.

Click Protocol and then click Add.

In the Manufacturer’s window, click
Microsoft.

In the Network Protocols window, click
TCP/IP, and then click OK.

Return to the Configuration window. You should now see TCP/IP listed.

You may or may not need to make changes to the TCP/IP address settings, depending on how
your computer is set up. With the TCP/IP entry for your network card highlighted, click the
Properties button (or just double-click on the TCP/IP entry) and examine the IP address
settings. Chances are your computer will have the “Obtain an IP address automatically”
setting, and you’ll need to change that.

Well, there is a work-around for advanced users. If you have a router assigning the automatic
IP addresses, then there is actually a pretty good chance you can add the HDR with its static
address to that network and get reliable operation. However, we're not going into that here.

) if you think your network and your knowledge of it qualify.

If you use the computer in a network, even if
you use it just to connect to the Internet,
record your current settings! Changing
network settings may cause problems with
your existing networking, so you’ll want to
be able to return to where you were.

If the “Obtain an IP address automatically”
button is checked, you’ll need to specify an
IP address to work with the HDR24/96 on a
peer-to-peer network. When you click on the
“Specify” button, the IP address and Subnet
Mask will be blank. Enter the first three
fields of the HDR24/96’s IP address
(10.10.28 if you didn’t change it from the
default), then set the fourth field to
something other than what the HDR24/96 is
using. You can leave the Subnet Mask field
blank and the computer will fill it in if it
