Clicking the LOAD button opens a file management window, allowing you to select the
MIDI file containing the tempo map. The Drive Select pull-down menu allows you to select
the drive on which to list files. Presently only MIDI file types are supported for tempo
mapping. When a MIDI file containing a tempo map is opened, the tempo changes and the
song position at which they take place are displayed in the Tempo Map window.

The Default Tempo doesn’t change when a tempo map is loaded (after all, it’s the default),
however, the Active Tempo will change to reflect the tempo in effect at the Current Time
position.

Sync

Sync settings control everything to do with sampling and time code. Included parameters are the
sample (word) clock source and rate, bit depth
(word length), time code source and frame rate.
Time code offset is also set from this setup menu
and time code output can be activated. Many of
these parameters will change from project to
project, but they appear as Setup parameters since
they’re often “house standards”. Appendix F
contains detailed information about both time
code and sample clock synchronization.

Sync setup parameters are accessed from the SYNC submenu from the Sync setup, or from the SYNC
System Control button on the HDR24/96 front panel or Remote 48.

Sample Clock
This sets the source for the sample (word) clock. Choices are Internal, external Word Clock
(BNC), or Video (BNC). You get to these clock options with the pull-down menu in the GUI or
by selecting

Clock in the first page of the Sync Options menu of the LCD.

When video is selected as the clock source, an
additional parameter, the video frame rate is required.
This is actually set as the Video Field Rate (twice as
fast). In the GUI, Video Field Rate shows up on
another pull-down menu that appears magically when
video is the source.

Video Field also magically

appends itself to the list of

Sync Options in the

LCD display. However, you'll have to hunt it down as there are normally 3 pages of

Sync

Options and Video Field appears on a new page 4. Video Field Rate options are B&W
(60Hz), NTSC (59.94 Hz), and PAL (50 Hz). If you're doing post in the US then choose NTSC,
and if you're doing post (or music) in Europe then choose PAL. Duh, of course you know this. If
you're doing music in the US and you're just
using a black burst generator to keep the
clocking universal and solid for the studio,
then set the field rate as well as the BB
Generator to use 60Hz. The integral number
of frames per second will make you much happier than NTSC will ever make you. The 60 Hz
