Menu Item

What It Does

selection is grayed-out if there is nothing on the clipboard to paste.

Delete

([D

ELETE

])

Almost the same as Cut, but with an important difference. A
Deleted region is not moved to the Clipboard. After deleting, the
Clipboard retains its former contents. This menu selection is
grayed-out if there is nothing selected for deletion.

Capture

Region

([C

TRL

+r])

This command places the selected portion of a region on to the
project’s Regions list under a name of your own choosing. The
captured selection can then be dragged from the Region List into
the Track Area for use in other places in the recording. This bears
some resemblance to the Render command, but there are important
differences.
Capture Region only works on a selection area, which covers a
single contiguous region. Typical applications are a couple of
measures of a drum track or a phrase of a chorus. If you want to
neatly package a fragmented or edited portion of a track for use in
other portions of the project, use Render instead. If your selection
spans an “illegal” area, or you have not selected an area, the
Capture Region command will be grayed-out on the menu and the
keyboard shortcut won’t work.
Unlike other entries on the Regions list, a captured region is not an
actual audio file, and therefore is not available for import into other
projects or exported to a DAW for further processing. If you want to
create a new audio file from the selected area of a track, use
Render.
When an area has been selected for Capture, click on the menu
command to open the Capture Region dialog box. Enter the name
for the captured regions and click ENTER to capture.

Paste Repeat

( [C

TRL

+p] )

Pastes the current contents of the clipboard to the selected track,
but offers the option of pasting it multiple times, either close-spaced
(beginning of copy 2 butted against the end of copy 1, etc.) or at a
specific interval.
Clicking on Paste Repeat opens a dialog box, which allows you to
enter the number of repeats, the starting point of the paste
operation, and the interval between repeats. The interval is
particularly useful when working in the BBT time scale, where you
can paste copies every so many beats.

Insert Time

([C

TRL

+i])

Inserts a specified amount of blank space on the selected track.
The entire rest of the track is pushed out by the amount of time
inserted.
Clicking on Insert Time opens a dialog box, which defaults to the
Current Time as the insert position, but this can be edited within the
time field in the dialog box. The amount of time to be inserted can
also be edited within the time field.
