EMERGENCY DESCENT SYSTEM

The emergency descent system allows the boom to be low-
ered in the event of power loss. The system uses an electrically
powered valve and the force of gravity to lower the boom. The
Main Lift Down function will operate normally if the engine is
not running and the Auxiliary Power switch has been acti-
vated. The turntable can be swung by also using the Auxiliary
Power switch. To operate the System the operator must follow
the following steps:

a. Push in the Emergency Stop Switch

b. Engage the footswitch

c. Activate Auxiliary Power by holding the switch in

the down position. Once the switch is held in the on
position, it does not need to remain there or be re-
engaged until the function is discontinued. At that
point the switch will need to be re-activated prior to
performing the next function.

d. Perform the function required (only main boom

descent and swing are operable on this model)

4.8

PLATFORM LOAD SENSING SYSTEM (JAPAN)

The Platform Load Sensing System measures the
weight in the platform. The system consists of 4
load cells mounted between the platform and
platform support and an electronic interface
module (EIM) located below the platform con-
sole. When the platform capacity is exceeded, or when there
is a fault in the system, the platform overload indicator will
flash and the platform alarm will sound. All platform controls
(except emergency descent) will be disabled.
