3. Use the “H” command to select MANUAL for DTE handshaking.
Use the “DSR”, “CTS” and “DCD” commands to force these
control leads on.
NOTE: Whenever DTE Handshake is set to MANUAL, all of the vital
control leads required to pass data are immediately forced
off. Even if these leads have been previously forced ON, if
DTE Handshake is toggled to AUTOMATIC and then back to
MANUAL, all of the vital leads are forced off, absolutely
preventing data transmission. Whenever DTE Handshake is
set to MANUAL the user should force on DSR, CTS and DCD.
4. The “RI” command refers to Ring Indicator, a control lead used
on RS-232 dial modems that has no bearing on this product.
Forcing “RI” on has no effect on any lead and forcing “RI” off
has no effect on any lead.
5. Force “TM” on if you wish to falsely indicate to the DTE that
the IMUX 2160 is always in a test mode, even when it is not in
a test mode, or force “TM” off if you wish to falsely indicate
that the IMUX 2160 is never in a test mode, even when it is in a
test mode.
NOTE: Whenever any control lead must be forced on in an IMUX
2160 the user must select the DTE Handshake setting
“MANUAL”. This causes all of the control leads to be forced
off. The user must then force ON all of the control leads
which are required. It is not possible to have one control lead
forced on while other control leads continue to function
normally. In addition, DSR must be on or the IMUX 2160 will
not transmit any user data.
6. The Q1 command is used to select T1 ports on the first QUAD
2164. This module must be installed in an odd-numbered slot
of the shelf. Type “Q1” and then enter “1,2,3,4” to select all 4
of the T1 ports. Connect the four T1 circuits to the network
ports on the rear connector module behind the QUAD 2164.
Document which T1 circuit has been connected to which port,
since one-to-one alignment of the T1 ports is required at each
site. (The T1 connected to port 1 at the central site must be
connected to port 1 at the remote site, and so forth.)
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 of this (IMUX 2160) procedure for the
IMUX 2160 module in slot 9. Because the IMUX 2160 in slot 9
will be using two QUAD 2164 modules, use the “Q2” command
as well and enter “1,2,3,4” to select all four T1 circuits on the
QUAD 2164 module in slot 8.
