E1 Node

Administration

The QUAD 2164 Main Menu is the access point for both of the
Inverse Multiplexer modules, the QUAD 2164 and IMUX 2160 in a
standalone configuration. The QUAD 2164 administrative menu to
set the address parameters and perform firmware upgrades.

Beneath the title, the site name and access level of the current user
are displayed. The site name is entered in the Node Administration
Menu. The access level is determined by the password, with Level 4
at the highest level.

NOTE: The four levels of passwords are a function of the NCM 2000.

The QUAD/IMUX has a one level password. The default

password is pressing the E

NTER

key.

To specify node administration parameters for the selected QUAD
2164 module, type “O” from the QUAD 2164 Main Menu.

Tertiary Synchronization—Use this option to specify an alternate source of timing for

synchronization purposes. In the event that the primary and secondary source are

unavailable, this source will be used.

• NET 1: Use this option to synchronize timing to E1 port 1.

• NET 2: Use this option to synchronize timing to E1 port 2.

• NET 3: Use this option to synchronize timing to E1 port 3.

• NET 4: Use this option to synchronize timing to E1 port 4.

• INTERNAL: Selects the internal clock as your timing source.

• EXTERNAL: Selects an external clock as your timing source.

• 5) DAT 1: Not available on the QUAD 2164.

• 6) DAT 2: Not available on the QUAD 2164.

Auto Restore—Selects which timing source will be used when the primary timing

source fails, restores, and then remains viable for a period of 60 seconds.

For example, if the primary source fails, the secondary source becomes the timing

source. When the primary source is back in service, and the
