Loading Paper in the Cassettes

The standard cassettes

The 2 standard cassettes will each hold plain paper, recycled paper or color paper.
Cassette 1 and 2 hold up to 500 sheets of plain paper (80 g/m

2

) (or up to 550 sheets of 64 g/m

2

plain paper).

The following paper sizes are supported: A3, B4, A4, A4-R, B5, B5-R, A5-R, Ledger, Legal, Oficio II, 12 × 18",
Letter, Letter-R, Statement-R, Folio, 8K, 16K, 16K-R and 216 × 340 mm.

IMPORTANT:

• When using media types other than plain paper (such as recycled or colored paper), always specify the

media type and paper weight settings. (Refer to Specifying Paper Size and Media Type for the Cassettes on
page 2-40
,
Media Type Setting on page 9-8.)
The cassettes can hold paper with weights between 60 and 220 g/m

2

(for the 30/30 ppm or 35/35 ppm) or

between 60 and 256 g/m

2

(for the 45/45 ppm or 55/50 ppm). If you are using a paper weight between 106

and 220 g/m

2

(for the 30/30 ppm or 35/35 ppm) or between 106 and 256 g/m

2

(for the 45/45 ppm or 55/

50 ppm), set the media type to Thick and set the weight of the paper you are using.

• Do not load thick paper that is heavier than 256 g/m

2

in the cassettes. Use the multi purpose tray for paper

that is heavier than 256 g/m

2

.

• If you wish to use 330 × 210 mm to 356 × 220 mm paper, contact a service technician.

Pull the cassette out toward you until it stops.

NOTE:

Do not pull out more than one cassette at a

time.

Squeeze the ends of the bottom of the paper length
guide and move the guide to fit the length of the
paper.

NOTE:

Paper sizes are marked on the cassette.
