all have identical hardware resources.

Saving Multiple .hwi Files in a Controller
Directory

You can create multiple .hwi files that contain different hardware settings and save them in the
same controller directory. This allows you to create custom .hwi settings for different tests.

1. Shut down any test and quit all Series 793 applications.

CAUTION:

For proper operation, the hardware resources specified in a configuration (.cfg)
file must match those in the .hwi file.

Changing the hardware resources in an .hwi file can cause the system load
operation to fail.

When using multiple .hwi files with the same controller, make sure that your .hwi
files all have identical hardware resources.

2. Use the HWI File Editor application to create a new .hwi file with a new name and custom

settings.

3. From the File menu, click Save As.

4. In the Save As window, select the new controller directory and click Save. The following window

appears:

If you click Yes, the file is saved in the controller directory and the controller.793settings file is
modified to point to the new .hwi file. The next time you start a controller application, it will use
the new .hwi file.
