Turning the power on

Slide the POWER switch to “ON.”
When the POWER switch is placed in the “ON”
position, “Power On” and then “Please Wait”
appear on the display window. Information
required for operation is read from the linear
PCM recorder’s built-in memory.

When you turn on the recorder for the
first time after purchasing

“Configure Initial Settings” appears on the
display window. Press the

button and

configure the “Language,” “Date&Time,” and
“Beep” settings (page 21).

Note

You may not be able to select the language,
depending on the country or region you purchased
your linear PCM recorder.

Turning the power off

Slide the POWER switch to “OFF.” “Power
off” appears on the display window, and the
power is turned off.

When to replace the batteries

When using batteries, the remaining battery
power is indicated on the display window.

There is sufficient battery power.

Replace all four batteries.

“Low Battery” appears on the display window
when there is no power left.
The linear PCM recorder will not operate.

Note

• When the remaining battery power reaches the

lowest level, the following operations are not
available.

– Supplying phantom power to the connected

external microphone

– Dividing the file at the track mark positions

– Moving files

– Copying files

– Deleting folders

– Deleting all files in a folder/list

– Formatting the memory storage

• You can use rechargeable batteries with the linear

PCM recorder. However, you cannot charge the
batteries while they are in the linear PCM recorder.
Use the rechargeable batteries that are already
charged.

• To use rechargeable batteries, select “

Settings”

“Common Settings”

“Battery Setting,” and

then select “NiMH Battery” from the HOME menu.

Hint

• If you leave the linear PCM recorder unused while it

is running on battery power, the display window will
turn off and the linear PCM recorder enters sleep
mode. You can change the time length before the
recorder enters sleep mode by changing the Auto
Standby setting (page 70).

• When you turn the power on again within 4 hours

of the last time the power was turned off, the power
will come on quickly.
