2.5.3 Front Panel Indicators - Definitions

The only switch on the Front Panel of the 3240S is on the NMS Module. Functionality of this switch is covered in Section 4.

2.5.3.1 System Indicators

Power, A and B - Power-on Indicator (green). This indicator is illuminated whenever the main circuit card is receiving
+5VDC from the internal power supplies. A power indicator is duplicated on the rear panel where it is labeled PWR.

System, Slave - Slave Indicator (red). This indicator is illuminated if the Master/Slave switch, accessible from the rear
panel, is set to the Slave position. 'Slave' is duplicated on the Rear Panel where it is labeled SLV.

System, LOS - Loss of Signal Indicator (red). This indicator is illuminated whenever the optical receiver cannot synchro-
nize with the signal coming from the remote multiplexer. 'LOS' is duplicated on the Rear Panel where it is labeled
Sync Loss.

System, Loop - System Loopback Indicator (red). This indicator works in conjunction with the System Mode Switch and
the NMS to render a visual representation of an active system local or remote loopback, not to be confused with an
I/O loopback. 'Loop' is duplicated on the Rear Panel.

In a non-redundant optics application The Alarm (or Fault) Relay follows the LOS, or Sync Loss
indicator. In a redundant optics application, this relay is called the Fault Relay and follows the Alarm
Indicator.

2.5.3.2 Redundant Optics Indicators

Redundant Optics, Auto - Redundant Optics Automatic Indicator (green). This indicator is illuminated when the Redun-
dant Optics Switch located on the rear panel is in the AUTO position. 'Auto' is duplicated on the Rear Panel.

Redundant Optics, Sec - Redundant Optics Secondary Indicator (red). This indicator is illuminated when the system is
operating on the secondary fiber optic link. This could be indicative of a Primary Link failure, or the Redundant Optics
Switch, located on the Rear Panel, being set to the SEC position. 'Sec' is duplicated on the Rear Panel.

Redundant Optics, Alm - Redundant Optics Alarm Indicator (red). This indicator is illuminated when either the
secondary or primary fiber optic link has failed, or when an automatic switch over has occurred.

Redundant Optics, Backup - Redundant Optics Back up Indicator (red). This indicator is illuminated when there is an
alarm, or failure condition. This indicates the state of the back up optics, which is usually the secondary optics
except in certain test scenarios.
