4.12 Modem Setup

To access the Modem setup configuration, from the Main Menu select '5' or Modem Setup, then 'Enter.' The Modem Setup
Screen will appear as referenced in Figure 4-33.

4.12.1 Password

To establish or change the modem password, select '1' or Password , then 'Enter,' from the Modem Setup Menu. The
Password Setup Screen will appear.

If a previous password has been established, it will be referenced on the first line of the Password Setup
Screen. If not, this line will be blank.

A password of up to ten characters may be entered for access protection via a modem connection. This password is in
addition to the NMS user interface password. Once this password is set, any user attempting access to the 3240S software
via a modem will be required to enter both the Modem Password as well as the User Interface Password. If a password is not
desired, press Enter at the "Enter New Password" prompt without entering any characters. The Modem Password is saved
in non-volatile RAM. Reference Figure 4-34.

4.12.2 Baud Rate

From the Modem Setup menu, select '2' or Baud Rate, then 'Enter.' When the Baud Rate Screen appears, select the modem
baud rate to coincide with the modem being used. The serial port will be initialized with the selected speed, no parity, eight
bits per character and one stop bit. Reference Figure 4-34.

4.12.3 Initialization String

From the Modem Setup menu, select '3' or Initialization String, then 'Enter.' When the Initialization Screen appears enter the
initialization string required for the modem being used.

Refer to the modem documentation for the initialization string information.

The 3240S initializes the modem with the AT commandstrings. The default prompt is:
At &F&C1&D2E0V1S0=1G0X4.

If the modem is not compliant with this string, another string must be set up in order to configure the modem properly. The
modem must be configured with flow control turned off. Reference Figure 4-34.
