4.9.4 I/O Port Trap Configuration

To configure port traps select '2' or Port Trap Configuration, then 'Enter' from the Trap Configuration menu. Each individual
port trap shown may be enabled or disabled to send traps to the SNMP management station.

The status entries are defined as follows:

Change Per Port Trap Enable Status: Provided that the ‘Master Enable/Disable Traps’ is enabled, this selection allows
the operator to enable or disable per-port traps when a sync loss or an Alarm Indication Signal (AIS) event occurs. This
is basically the “master enable/disable per port traps” function. The operator needs to enable or disable on a per port
basis via section 3 of the Port Trap Configuration screen.

Change Port Loopback Trap Enable Status: This enables or disables traps whenever a port on an I/O card is set in
a local or remote loopback. This is the “master enable/disable loopback traps” function for all the I/O ports.

Change Port Trap Status- This enables or disables traps on a specific I/O port. The operator must enter the unit, slot
and port number and enable or disable traps for the port. Example: In order for the 3240S to send a trap to the manager(s)
when a sync loss or AIS event happens on unit 1, physical slot 1 - port 2 enables the following items:

Master Enable/Disable Traps under the SYSTEM TRAP CONFIGURATION screen.

Per Port Traps under the PORT TRAP CONFIGURATION screen.

Port Trap Status under the PORT TRAP CONFIGURATION screen.

To configure Per Port Traps select '2' or Port Trap Configuration, then 'Enter' from the 3240S Trap Configuration menu.
The Port Trap Configuration Screen will appear as referenced in Figure 4-29. Enabling/Disabling of Port Traps is similar to the
System Traps in functionality. Select the desired Traps to Enable or Disable, and answer 'Y/N.'
