3240S Fiber Optic Multiplexer

4.9.1 System Configuration Status

From the 3240S Multiplexer Configuration/Status Screen, select '1' or System, then 'Enter' for system configuration/status.
During normal operation status data is continuously passed back and forth between the two mux's in this configuration. Each
end has access to the status at the other end. An NMS connection at either end yields the status of both. Unit 1 is local and
Unit 2 is remote.

4.9.1.1 The System Parameters

Unit Address (1 or 2 )

Type of Optics -

850-LED (850nm LED)

13-LP-LSR (1310nm low power laser)

13-HP-LSR (1310nm high power laser)

15-LD-LSR (1550nm long power laser)

Redundant Optics - Yes/No

Mode - MAN/AUTO (Optical Redundancy Control)

Active Link - Primary/Secondary

F/O Frame Sync

Yes = Fiber optic receiver in sync

Lost = The receiver cannot synchronize with received frames

Fault Relay - Has fault relay been set? (An automatic F/O Link switch over occurred or BULM bad)
OFF = No fault (or) illuminated = Fault

Fiber Optic Link Status - Primary/Secondary - Good or Bad

System Test Status - Local, Remote Test, or No Test

Loop LED - On/Off

A/B Power Supply Installed - A/B blank if not installed

Type of Power Supply - AC/DC/blank if not installed

Power Supply Status A/B = Good/Bad/blank if not installed.

The System Configuration and Status screen is different for the Redundant and Non-Redundant fiber
optic systems. Non-redundant system will not show Mode, Active Link, Primary Link, or Secondary Link
statuses. Reference Figure 4-19, which shows a 3240S with Redundant Optics.

Figure 4-20 shows a status screen with errors.
