Chapter 3: Getting Started
The following are instructions for mounting a 2 x 4
cross support:
1. Level the base cabinets and the work
surface.
2. Scribe a line on the wall or back of the base
cabinet to locate the support under the work
surface.
3. Mount the support by attaching it to the wall
or base cabinet.
4. Place the hood on top of the work surface
and cross support.
The work surface should be smooth and durable, and
made from a chemically resistant epoxy resin. The
surface should be nonporous and resistant to the acids,
solvents, and chemicals used in conjunction with the
Protector ClassMate Fume Hood. The work surface
should also contain a spillway for containing primary
spills.

WARNING: The weight of the exhaust
ductwork system must be supported
independently of the hood superstructure. Do
not allow this weight to be supported by the
hood structure as damage to the unit may
occur.
