Appendix: Using Venus 1500 Software to Display Non-
English Fonts

The Venus 1500 Control System can display various non-English fonts.

Compatible Languages

Depending on your operating system, you may need to install third-party TrueType fonts. These fonts can
be used with Content Studio software, but they are not supported by Daktronics' technical staff.

Initial Settings

Note: You may need to use the Windows

®

8, 7, Vista, or XP CD-ROM while specifying initial settings.

Windows 8

1. Navigate to the Start screen and search Region, click Settings and then Region to open the dialog.

2. From the Formats tab, select the desired format from the available list and click Apply.

3. Click the Administrative tab.

In the Language for non-Unicode programs section, click the Change system locale... button and

select the desired locale from the drop-down list. Click OK. Restart your computer to apply changes.

5. From the Start screen, search Change input methods to configure your keyboard to support the

desired language. Click Settings > Change input methods to open the Language dialog. Click
Options to open the Language Options dialog. Click Add an input method and add the desired
input method.

An icon appears under Settings from the Windows 8 charms bar. The icon indicates the current input
locale as an abbreviation.

Windows Vista, Windows 7

1. Click the Windows Start button.

2. Click Control Panel.

3. From the Control Panel, navigate to Regional and Language Options.

4. From the Formats tab, select the desired format from the available list and click Apply.

5. Click the Administrative tab.

6. In the Language for non-Unicode programs section, click the Change system locale... button and

select the desired locale from the drop-down list. Click OK. Restart your computer to apply changes.

7. Configure your keyboard to support the desired language by clicking the Windows button. Click

Control Panel and navigate to Regional and Language Options. Click the Keyboards and
Languages
tab and click Change keyboards... The Text Services and Input Languages dialog
opens.
