We suggest that you use the default configuration file to define values for SIP parameters that

are common to all phones. Doing so will make controlling and maintaining your network easier.
You can then define only those parameters that are specific to a phone in the phone-specific
configuration file. Phone-specific parameters should be defined only in a phone-specific
configuration file, or they should be manually configured.

12.5. Soft-Switch (PBX) Feature Access

Many Soft-switches, including IP-PBX and SIP proxies implement various proprietary

features such as group pick up or call return. Most often, end users on such systems could gain
access to these supplant features by dialing special numbers such as “*69” or “#7”.

The star sign, ‘*’, and the pound sign, 【#】, bear special meaning on IP SIP Phone (where a

dialing string starts with a ‘*’ denotes LAN dialing, whereas a dialing string starts with a 【#】
denotes ENUM dialing), but it reserves “*”, “#”, “*0”, “#0”, “#1”, “#2”, “#3”, “#4”, “#5”, “#6”,
“#7”, “#8”, “#9” and all dialing strings starting with a star sign except for “*XXX” where XXX
is between 1 and 255 (denotes LAN dialing) for server features access. You could send all LAN
dial strings “as is” by disable this feature from
