Recommended procedure for configuring and managing a
TRILL network

Perform the following tasks to configure and manage a TRILL network:

1.

Import RBs to the TRILL module of VFM.

2.

Configure TRILL parameters for RBs individually or in batches.

3.

Configure TRILL on newly added RBs, or modify the TRILL parameters of existing RBs.

4.

Configure TRILL parameters for RB interfaces.

Managing RBs

With VFM, you can import, query, delete, and synchronize RBs, and configure TRILL parameters for RBs

in batches or individually. You can also enable or disable TRILL on interfaces of an RB, and configure

TRILL parameters on the interfaces.

Viewing the RB List

1.

Click the Service tab.

2.

From the navigation tree, select VAN Fabric Manager > LAN Configuration > TRILL.
The RB List displays all RBs.
RB List contents

Status—Alarm state of the RB in the IMC Platform. RB alarm states include Unmanaged,
Unknown, Normal, Major, Minor, Warning, and Critical. For more information about device

alarm status, see H3C IMC Base Platform Administrator Guide.

Device Name—Device name of the RB. By default, the device name is in the format of device
Label (IP address)
, where device label is the IMC name for the device, and IP address is the

address specified when the device is added to the IMC Platform. Click the device name to view
its details. For more information about device details, see H3C IMC Base Platform

Administrator Guide.

NOTE:

The device name format depends on the setting of the Device Info Display parameter. You can
go to System > System Configuration > System Settings to configure the Device Info Display
parameter.

IP—IP address of the RB.

System ID—System ID of the RB, which uniquely identifies the RB in the TRILL network.

Nickname—Nickname of the RB, which is the address of the RB in the TRILL network. VFM
displays the nickname in decimal notation, even thought the nickname is specified on the RB in

hexadecimal notation.

Last Sync—Time when VFM last synchronized the RB.

{

Sync Status—Most recent synchronization result: Success, Failure, or Synchronizing.

Operation—Click the Operation icon
