4.4

Setting a Fault Action

By default, when communications are disrupted (for example, a
cable is disconnected), the drive responds by faulting if it is using
I/O from the network. You can configure a different response to
communication disruptions using Comm Flt Action (6).

4.4.1 Changing the Fault Action

Set the value of Comm Flt Action (6) to the desired response as
shown in table 4.4. See figure 4.3 for a sample LCD OIM Fault
Action screen.

Changes to this parameter take effect immediately. A reset is not
required.

!

ATTENTION:Comm Flt Action (6) lets you determine
the action of the module and connected SP600 drive
if communications are disrupted. By default, this
parameter faults the drive. You can set this
parameter so that the drive continues to run.
Precautions should be taken to ensure that the
setting of this parameter does not create a hazard
of injury or equipment damage. Failure to observe
this precaution could result in bodily injury or
damage to equipment.

Table 4.4 – Selections for Drive Response to Communication Fault

Value

Action

Description

0

Fault (default)

The drive is faulted and stopped.
(Default)

1

Stop

The drive is stopped, but not faulted.

2

Zero Data

The drive is sent 0 for output data after
a communications disruption. This does
not command a stop.

3

Hold Last

The drive continues in its present state
after a communications disruption.

4

Send Flt Cfg

The drive is sent the data that you set in
the fault configuration parameters, Flt
Cfg Logic (10) through Flt Cfg D2 (19).
