Modes of Operation

The PROFIBUS module uses three status indicators to report its
operating status. They can be viewed through the drive cover.

Configure the module for your
application.

Set the parameters for the following features
as required by your application:

Node address

I/O configuration

Fault actions

Apply power to the PROFIBUS master and
other devices on the network.

Verify that the master and network are
installed and functioning in accordance with
PROFIBUS standards, and then apply power
to them.

Configure the scanner to communicate
with the module.

Use a network tool for PROFIBUS to
configure the master on the network.

Be sure to:

Set up the scan list.

Map the module data to the scan list.

Save your PROFIBUS configuration to the
scanner and a file.

Create a ladder logic program.

Use a programming tool such as RSLogix to
create a ladder logic program that enables
you to do the following:

Control the module and connected drive.

Monitor or configure the drive using Explicit
Messages.
