User Guide

NOTE: The “01” hardware version of the Dako Autostainer Plus does not have an
additional reservoir for deionized water. If your Autostainer Plus does not have this option
the software does not prompt to prime the water pump.

3. Select the PRIME PUMP (Buffer) button. The buffer dispensing pump is primed.

4. Select the START RUN button. The RUN LOG screen is displayed. The Run Log is

visible throughout the run and displays the steps performed by the Autostainer Plus.

The elapsed, remaining and total times are listed on the RUN LOG screen.

The Start, Current, and Finish times are also listed. The current step, total and current
time are always displayed in blue at the bottom of the Run Log.

NOTE: If the current time is not accurate do not change it during the run. Adjust the time
at the completion of the run. To reset time refer to the Windows 98/XP documentation.

NOTE: The slides are rinsed with buffer every 30 minutes until the staining run begins.
After the completion of the run, the slides will be rinsed with DI water every 60 minutes
until the slides are removed from the Autostainer Plus. (The deionized water feature is not
available for the “01” hardware version of the Dako Autostainer Plus. Therefore, following
completion of the run, the slides will be rinsed with buffer every 60 minutes until the slides
are removed from the instrument).

Adding Priority Slides

Priority Slide Handling provides the ability to repeatedly add new slides in unoccupied positions during
a run on a priority basis. The integrity of slides running on the instrument is maintained while new
slides are added to the run. This feature allows you to load the instrument as your workflow permits.

After Priority Slides are added to an on-going run, these slides can be completed before the original
run is completed, or all the slide can be finished at the same time. If the Protocol Template for the
added Priority Slides is not the same as the Protocol Template for the original run, the Priority Slides
are always completed first.

NOTE: The Priority Slides feature can be used with or without the bar code feature. Dako
recommends that The Priority Slides feature should not be used during a PharmDx™ run.

Using the Priority Slide Handling with Slide Bar Coding

1. Start the staining run on the Dako Autostainer Plus. The RUN LOG screen is displayed.

The PRIORITY SLIDES button is not available.
