NOTE: When FPL 0 is modified in any way, the KLN 94 orients itself on
the nearest leg of the modified flight plan. In this case the leg from KNEW
to MIFEV has become active. Since we have not yet been cleared to
MIFEV it is necessary to do a Direct To operation to KIXD. The easiest
way to do this is normally using the waypoint scan feature of the map (see
section 4.2.4.1.)

2.

When you are within 30 NM of the airport (not the IAF), the KLN 94
will automatically arm the approach mode and provide the following
message:

*Press ALT To Set Baro

The message acts as a reminder to make sure the KLN 94 is using the
correct barometric pressure. If the barometric information is not correct,
then the integrity monitoring provided by the KLN 94 may not be as good
as it could be. Press

A to bring up the ALT 1 page and verify that the

barometric pressure is correct.

NOTE: If the KLN 94 is interfaced with a compatible air data computer
that provides the correct barometric pressure to the KLN 94, then the pre-
vious message is not displayed and it is not necessary to update the
barometric pressure.

At this time the KLN 94 will smoothly
change the CDI scale factor to ±1.0
NM. APR ARM (or TERM see first
note in section 6.2.1.) is now annun-
ciated (figure 6-24).

3. Approximately 8 NM from KIXD

you are cleared direct to MIFEV,
the IAF. You are probably
already viewing the Nav 4 map
page but if not, now is a good
time to display the map by
momentarily pressing either por-
tion of the

R

button (figure

6-25). Once viewing the map
page, press and hold the

R

but-

ton for 2 seconds to select auto
scaling (figure 6-26). Auto scal-
ing is especially useful during an
approach. Remember, you can
press the

E button, if necessary, to temporarily declutter the map.

4. Approximately 3 NM from MIFEV you are cleared for the approach. It

is a good idea to check over the status of the KLN 94. Look at the
