to activate vectors. Activating vectors makes the FAF the
active waypoint with the proper inbound course to the FAF (figure 6-
38). The VTF annunciation turns
green when vectors has been
activated. At this time the exter-
nal Nav indicator should be set
to 185°
and the NAV/GPS
switch checked to make sure it is
set to GPS.
4. Fly the headings given by the controller in a normal manner and inter-
cept the course to the FAF.
5. By the time the aircraft is 2 NM from LNK (figure 6-39), the FAF, the
KLN 94 will make a prediction to see if integrity will be available at the
FAF and at the MAP. If the prediction indicates that integrity monitor-
ing will be available and RAIM is
currently available, the KLN 94
will annunciate APR ACTV (or
APR). At this time the KLN 94
will also start to change the CDI
scale factor. By the time the air-
craft reaches the FAF the CDI
scale factor will be down to ±0.3
NM full scale deflection.
6. Normal waypoint alerting and turn anticipation will occur prior to
reaching LNK. The DTK will change from 185° to 177° and the new
course should be selected on the external Nav indicator. The KLN 94
will sequence to the missed approach point, RW17L, upon passing
LNK. The VTF annunciation will return to white.
7. The KLN 94 will again provide waypoint alerting as you approach
RW17L, the missed approach point (MAP).
8. Upon reaching RW17L and not seeing the runway you decide to per-
form a missed approach. Remember, the KLN 94 will not
automatically sequence past the missed approach point. This is
shown on the NAV 4 page by not showing any lines connecting way-
points that are past the MAP. Until the missed approach procedure is
initiated the KLN 94 will continue to provide guidance along the 177°
FAF to MAP course and the To/Fr indicator will indicate “From.”
9. After declaring the missed approach you request vectors to try the
approach again. Press the
P
button to bring up the PROC 1 page
and press
F
to re-activate vectors for another try. The VTF annun-
ciation turns green to indicate that vectors-to-final is once again
activated.
