NV9000-SE Utilities
User’s Guide
If there is an NV9000 configuration for the panel, the panel will start functioning as it was
configured. If there is no configuration, the panel will remain idle (dark) but connected.
The users in your facility must have a unique panel ID for every virtual panel they use, across all
PCs. The panel IDs for virtual panels must not collide with the panel IDs for physical panels.
The implication is that users cannot just launch a virtual panel and expect it to work. A panel ID
must be created in NV9000-SE Utilities for the virtual panel and the configuration for the system
controller must be updated with the panel IDs assigned to the virtual panels throughout your
system.
Software Panels
There are two software panels available:
•
EC9700 — a “control” GUI. This GUI was designed to be functionally equivalent to the
NV9601. In actuality, it lacks some of the features of the NV9601.
•
EC9710 — a “status” GUI. This GUI shows the sources taken to selected destinations.
Software panels reside on users’ PCs and communicate with the system controller through the
PCs’ IP addresses.
They are inconvenient to install but require no panel IDs and they cost nothing because they are
bundled with the NV9000 software.
There are no current EC9700 or EC9710 manuals.
First, obtain the software installer (currently,
SV0269-06.msi
) from Grass Valley customer
support or copy the installer from the file system of your system controller.
Obtain the Installer
Follow these steps to get the software from the system controller:
1 Login to the system controller.
This will require are keyboard, monitor, and mouse (or pointing device) conected to the
appropriate ports of your system controller.
There are other ways to access the file system of the system controller, such as remote
login. But this is the method that is most reliable and requires the least discussion.
2 Navigate the file system to this folder:
C:\nvision\envy\install\client\
3 Copy the file
SV0269-06.msi
from that folder to a USB device.
4 Properly eject and remove the USB device.
Install the GUIs
Follow these steps to install the software panels on a PC:
1 Know the IP address(es) of the system controller with which your software panels will com-
municate.
2 Insert the USB device with the installer in a USB slot of the PC. (Optionally copy the installer
to the PC’s file system.)
