NV9641 and NV9641A Panel Description
The NV9641A is a panel model that replaces the NV9641. It uses slightly different LCD
buttons, but otherwise, the NV9641A is identical to the NV9641. NV9000-SE Utilities does not
list an NV9641A. For an NV9641A, choose an NV9641 configuration.
The NV9641 is a 1RU control panel featuring 16 LCD function buttons (illuminated in various
colors and having 1 to 3 lines of text) and 2 up/down (scroll) buttons:
At the rear, in addition to power, serial, and network connectors, is a 25-pin GPIO (tally)
connector that supports 4 optically isolated relay outputs and 8 optically isolated inputs:
An equivalent NV9641V — a “virtual panel”— is available. It emulates the NV9641.
Behavioral Models
Configurers can place the NV9641 in one of two behavioral models: XY/MD and paging. The
behavioral models are distinct. The operator cannot switch from one model to the other.
XY/MD Model
Under this model, the NV9641 provides a tree-structured (or hierarchical) button layout. You can
define a “tree” of buttons in such a way that each of the 16 LCD buttons (illuminated in various
colors and having 1 to 3 lines of text) can either (1) execute a function or (2) select a subtree (i.e.,
present an entirely new set of functions at a different level in the tree). The tree, with its
subtrees, is not limited in size.
(We use the term “button page” or “page” to mean the set of 16 button functions at any partic-
ular place in the subtree.)
Configurers use ‘Navigate’ buttons to create new button pages (subtrees). During operation,
NV9641 users press such buttons to access different subtrees.
The up/down buttons scroll through lists of devices, through levels in X-Y mode, and through
pages of multi-destination devices.
