22 Troubleshooting

Symptom

Cause

No display

 The AC adapter is not connected.
 The batteries are exhausted.

→ Ensure that the AC adapter is

connected.

→ Replace the batteries.

The display is
unstable.
The display takes time
to be stabilized.
The display does not
move with the M sign
flashing.

 The balance is influenced by wind

or vibration.

 The balance is placed on an

unstable base.

 The pan, tare, or sample put on

the balance is in contact with an
external object.

→ Read Precautions Relating to

Use (pages 3 to 6).
Adjust the response using the
single-touch response setting
function (page 12).

Weight indication
contains an error.

 The display error is caused

because the balance has not
been used for a long period of
time or has been relocated to
another location.

 The adjusters (feet) are not

settled, and the balance is not
kept horizontal.

 The tare weight is set or not.

→ Perform span adjustment of

the balance (page 45).

→ Check that the balance is kept

horizontal (page 10).

→ Set the tare range correctly.

The balance cannot be
calibrated.
(An error message
appears.)

 The balance is affected by wind

or vibration.

 There is large weight error for the

external reference weights.

 Mechanical parts have failed.

→ Check how to calibrate the

balance before performing
calibration. Refer to Hints on
page 47.

the weighing capacity.

 Mechanical parts fail.

→ Check the total weight.

→ Change the container.

u - Err] is displayed.  The pan or pan base is removed.

 Mechanical parts have failed.

→ Install the pan and pan base

properly.

 The backup battery to power the

clock has run out.

→ Reset the date and time.

If an error message appears
frequently, contact our
Technical Service Division or
the retailer from whom the
balance was purchased.

 The balance is influenced by

static electricity or noise.

 The electric components of the

balance have failed.

→ Contact our technical service

personnel or your local dealer.

The display is turned
