Updating the Printer Configuration to the QCMC

Before a new printer flash image can be saved to a QCMC, the existing
QCMC files must first be deleted. With the QCMC installed in the original host
printer or a target printer, set “Admin User” to Enable under the “Printer
Control” menu. Select the “Delete Saved QCMC/Files And Reboot <ENTER>”
option. The files will be deleted and the printer will reboot and optimize the
flash on the EMC. Cycle power on the printer and follow the instructions in the
“Saving the Printer’s Configuration to the QCMC” section on page 233.

Loading New Firmware on the Printer

Loading new firmware onto the host or to the target printer erases the
NVRAM. This is the same as the printer’s flash never being saved to a
QCMC, or the printer having never been cloned with a QCMC.

NOTE:

If an EMC with saved QCMC settings is installed in the printer during
program download, all QCMC settings on the EMC will be erased as
well.

Exceptions

If you remove the module with power on, the MEMORY REMOVED Check
EMC error message will display. It is necessary to power off and reboot the
printer (with the cartridge in or out) to clear this error.

If the cartridge is removed when the printer’s power is off, the printer’s own
MAC address will be available to the network when power is restored. No
other variable data will be lost. Data on the QCMC will be maintained as well.
