a show by sending the LaserDisk player a ÔsearchÕ string. It will display ФE6Х error on the Heads Up Display
during this period. If the LaserDisk player doesnÕt respond as expected for the Ôerror countÕ number of
tries, then it will try to go into a ÔstartupÕ sequence to try and spin up the LaserDisk. The error message ФF2Х
will then be displayed as an attempt is being made to start up the LaserDisk player.

Select from J6:

If more than one show is stored on a single Smart Brick System, each one can be accessed individu-

ally and played back. Up to 63 of these shows can be stored on a single Smart Brick System. These re-
quests can be made through the serial port or through the 1/4 J6 Port.

This toggle enables the 1/4 J6 Port for requesting the shows on this Smart Brick System. There are two

methods of selecting shows from this port. Which one is used is selected by the DIRECT SELECT com-
mand.

Delay Reload:

The length of the countdown can be set at any time by setting a thumbwheel switch located on the

front of the Smart Brick Brain. The positions set the delays as follows:

1)

1 x 'delay reload'

(for 15 seconds delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

2)

2 x 'delay reload'

(for 30 seconds delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

3)

4 x 'delay reload'

(for 1 minute delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

4)

8 x 'delay reload'

(for 2 minutes delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

5)

20 x 'delay reload'

(for 5 minutes delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

6)

40 x 'delay reload'

(for 10 minutes delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

7)

80 x 'delay reload'

(for 20 minutes delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

8)

120 x 'delay reload'

(for 30 minutes delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

9)

240 x 'delay reload'

(for 1 hour delay when delay reload is set to 15 seconds)

stops cycling shows

This command is used to set the base value for the DELAY RELOAD used for determining how long

the delays between shows will be. Valid entries are from 1 to 99 seconds, although we would recom-
mend you stick to even values for these entries (5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 90 seconds etc.) so that the delay
lengths arenÕt too weird.

Tape Deck Pulse:

This command is used to set how long the pulse sent out through the ÔSTOPÕ, ÔplayÕ, and ÔrewindÕ relay

outputs is. The length is the number of heartbeats the output will stay active after they are initially turned
on. Valid entries are from 00H to FFH. A value of 00 latches the outputs on permanently when they are
set.

Debounce:

This command is used to set the number of times the software in the Brick Brain will check the Blue,

Green or 1/4 J6 inputs before actually believing them. Valid entries are from 00H to FFH. 00 gives a 256
count loop for the longest possible response, 01 gives the fastest possible response. Too small of an
entry for the DEBOUNCE can cause problems with the inputs if they are noisy or tend to bounce. Too
large a value will cause a delay before the Brick Brain responds to these inputs. The unit is shipped with a
value of 08.
