Section 7.2.7 Motor Current

If the press control is configured to provide motor speed adjustment, the speed adjust screen will also
display a numeric and graphic readout for motor current (% Load). The R/D Module provides two
terminals, S7 (input) and S8 (dc ground), to allow interfacing to an analog output of motor current. If
a standard current transformer is used (for example, 100Amp In=5Amp Out) the output must be
connected to an isolation transformer that can provide a 10vac nominal output at 200 % of rated motor
current. The output of the CT can Not be connected directly into the press control. The input impedance
of terminal S7 to S8 is 15k ohm (about the same as a digital meter) and the full scale (200 %) signal can
vary from 7vac to 14vac. The % Load gain pot on the R/D Module is then used to calibrate the readout.

Section 7.3 Calibrating Flywheel Speed Interface

Calibrating the stroking speed of the press to analog output of the press control involves the following
steps (refer to Section 5.2.13 for more information on the speed parameters). The press control should
be set to stroke in continuous mode and the operator terminal configured to display both Drive Speed and
Stroke Speed. This should allow the press to be stroked in continuous during calibration and the stroking
speed used to determine the actual speed of the press.
