Step 1 - Check for proper wiring.
Before applying power to the press control check that the +24 volt terminal is not shorted to ground or
to the L1 side of 120 vac. Check for any obvious wiring problems on the R/D and Input modules.
Devices located in close proximity to AC that are wired to DC inputs (such as the valve monitor limit
switch in the clutch/brake dual air valve) should be given particular attention.

Step 2 - Apply power to the press control and display, and leave the main motor off.
Check the power supply status Leds on the card rack. The Logic Module should show 2 green Leds (+5
volts). The R/D Module should show 2 green Leds (+12, -12 volts). The Power Connector Module
should show a green Led for +24 volts and a green Led for the LMC relay if no faults exist and all master
stop inputs are connected.

Step 3 - Verify the Input wiring.
Switch to MODE SELECT, press the INCH softkey, and switch back to RUN. The INCH mode is used
because the main motor can be left off until the wiring is verified.

Go to the Press Control screen. The diagnostic messages below "Present Running Status:" show any
condition that is keeping the press from running. Correct the problems one at a time until the message
"Ready To Stroke" is displayed. If an internal lube monitor or hydraulic overload monitor is used, the
inputs can be temporarily strapped to +24 volts until the press control is initially set up. Recirculating oil
or pulsed grease lube systems that monitor flow can be temporarily bypassed by programming the lube
system type to 000.

Step 4 - Verify the wiring to the clutch/brake valve.
Verify that 120 vac exists from V2-V5 on the Power Connector Module. If correct, pressing the INCH
buttons should engage the clutch/brake valve and both yellow Leds on the Power Connector Module
should turn on.

Step 5 - Zero the encoder to the machine.
Start the main motor and inch the press until the slide is at the top of the stroke and the keyway on the
resolver/encoder assembly is pointing approximately to zero.

If the press stops due to errors "MOTION DID NOT START" or "MOTION STOPPED", adjustments
must be made to the configuration parameters "Minimum Strokes/Min" or "Clutch Engagement Time"
(located in the Machine Parameters configuration menu).

If desired, the MOTOR FORWARD input to the system 5000 card rack (input 46) can be temporarily
removed, making certain that it does not short to any other point. In this situation, the press control will
assume that the main motor is off and will not perform tests against motion parameters that have not yet
been programmed.

Switch to PROG mode, select the CONFIG softkey, and enter the access code.
Select Machine Parameters and use the SET ZERO softkey to set the resolver/encoder offset. If within
the allowable ± 10 degree limit, the ANGLE display will go to 0 degrees. If the display does not change
to 0 degrees, the resolver/encoder assembly is not within the allowable limit of the top of the stroke. Enter
the value 000 into the parameter Encoder Offset and press ENT. The ANGLE display will now indicate
