Section 1 Introduction

The System 5000 Press Control is designed specifically for use on part revolution mechanical power presses.
Two separately powered microprocessor systems each perform clutch/brake control logic independently and
cross communicate with each other to check control agreement. All inputs are isolated and read
independently by each channel. A combination resolver and encoder assembly is read and checked
independently by each channel. Power to the clutch/brake air valve(s) passes through three separate output
relays, whose contacts are checked by the two hardware independent logic systems. All safety critical
clutch/brake function logic is stored in EPROM memory. In addition, the following features are provided:

The Operator Terminal includes a graphic liquid crystal color display with 7.3 in x 5.7 in viewing area, and
a sealed membrane keyboard with tactile feedback. This Operator Terminal displays in English and Spanish.
The display language can be changed by one key stroke.

Eight programmable limit switch outputs standard, expandable to sixteen. Each output can be programmed
with a 20 character description for easier operator interface.

Ten production counters are standard.

Job storage for up to 500 jobs is standard.

The keyed stroking selector allows selection of up to eight stroking modes through the operator terminal.
Setup modes include Inch, Timed Inch, and Setup/Stop modes. Production modes include Single Stroke,
Continuous, Automatic Single Stroke, Continuous on Demand, and Maintain Continuous modes.

Automatically adjusted top stop for variable speed presses is standard.
