the line is pressurized. Since the valve has some physical reaction time, two factory programmed
parameters are provided. The parameter ‘V/M Turn On Time” sets the maximum amount of time (in
mSec) that input #45 must switch high when the clutch is engaged. If the input does not switch high
within this amount of time the clutch/brake valve is turned Off and “V/M Pull In Fault” is reported as the
reason for the stop. The parameter “V/M Turn Off Time” sets the maximum amount of time (in mSec)
that input #45 must switch low when the clutch is dis-engaged. If the input does not switch low within
this amount of time the present running status will indicate a “V/M Drop Out Fault”. A fault from the
clutch line pressure switch generates an immediate stop and requires that the operator press the RESET
ERROR softkey in the press control menu before any further strokes can be initiated. The parameter
“V/M Track Time” is not used and should be set to 100.

Valve Monitor type 003:

Air Valve With Internal Monitor (Reset Error Required)

Input #44

Input from valve monitor 1 (0 volts = valve fault)

Input #45

Input from valve monitor 2 (0 volts = valve fault)

This is a "static" valve monitor. If either input goes low, the press control will immediately stop and
further stroke initiation prevented until the valve monitor inputs are in the RUN condition (+24 volts).
In addition, the operator must acknowledge the fault by pressing the RESET ERROR softkey. This is
intended to be used with clutch/brake valves that provide indication of a fault condition but “self reset”
when power is removed. None of the factory programmed timers are used with this monitor.

Valve Monitor type 004:

Hydraulic Clutch/Brake control with soft brake

This valve monitor type allows for the control and monitoring of presses with hydraulic clutch/brake
systems and soft brake. The soft brake will be active only when the press control automatically stops the
press at the top of the stroke, in all modes of operation. Any stop other than a stop on top will use the
full brake and not the soft brake.

Output relay OR-16 will control the soft brake. When OR-16 is turned On, the soft brake will be active.
A sensor which monitors the position of the soft brake valve must be employed. This sensor must be
connected to input # 45.

Input # 44

Clutch/Brake pressure switch. This input will monitor the output port pressure of
the clutch/brake valve and will switch high when there is sufficient pressure in the
output port of valve. The control will monitor this input for proper tracking of the
clutch/brake drive output. The control will issue a “Valve Monitor 1" fault and
turn off the clutch/brake drive output if this input does not track the clutch/brake
drive output when energized. The control will issue a “Valve Monitor 1" fault and
drop out the LMC if this input goes high while the clutch/brake output is Off.

Input # 45

Soft brake proximity sensor. This input should be high (+24 vdc) when the soft
brake valve is not in the soft brake position and should switch low when the soft
brake output OR-16 turns On. A “Valve Monitor 2" fault is generated and the
LMC is turned Off if this input goes high anytime except during a soft brake. A
“V/M Drop Out” fault is generated and the LMC turned Off if this input fails to
track the soft brake valve activation. A “Soft Brake OverRun” fault is generated
