6.3 PPTP and L2TP
6.3.1 Point-to-Point-Tunneling-Protocol
The Point-to-Point-Tunneling-Protocol (PPTP) is used for
establishing Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunnels over an
insecure network such as the Internet. PPTP uses a client
server module for establishing the VPN, the MRD-3xx pro-
vides a PPTP client. PPTP was developed by Microsoft and is
provided with most versions of the Windows operating sys-
tem. An advantage of PPTP is it is easy to configure.
