11.1.2 Notes on DAT Tape Drive Use

When inserting a DAT cartridge in a DAT tape drive, position the tape cartridge with the hinged portion for-
ward; typically, there is an embossed arrow on the front edge of the top of the tape. Insert the tape with the
arrow pointing toward the drive. Press gently when a slight resistance is met; normally the drive will then
transport and load the tape into the drive. DO NOT FORCE THE TAPE.

NOTE

Quick Tape Drive

NEVER UNLATCH THIS SLIDE WHILE THE DRIVE LIGHT IS ON.

NEVER OPEN THE ACCESS HATCH ON THE SIDE OF THE
CARTRIDGE.

NEVER TOUCH THE TAPE.

FOLLOW THE TAPE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR TAPE HANDLING AND STORAGE PRECAUTIONS.

Each cartridge has a write-protect switch on the top left side. The
switch is a slotted plastic barrel with a legend such as SAFE
embossed next to it. To write on the cartridge turn the slotted plastic
switch so that the arrow points away from the SAFE legend.

NOTE

DAT Tape Drive

NEVER EJECT THE TAPE WHEN THE Tape Backup LIGHT IS ON.

NEVER TURN OFF THE DRIVE WHILE THE TAPE IS RUNNING.

NEVER OPEN THE ACCESS HATCH ON THE SIDE OF THE
CARTRIDGE.

NEVER TOUCH THE TAPE.

TAPE HANDLING AND STORAGE PRECAUTIONS.

Each cartridge has a write-protect switch on the back edge of the cas-
sette. Slide the door open to write protect the tape; slide it closed to
write-enable the tape.
