The time can be adjusted forward or backward. A minus sign preceding the number of seconds denotes a
backward time adjustment.

Alternatively, the adjustment can be made by clicking on the slider arrows while comparing the resulting
target time setting to an external time source, such as a digital watch.

When the desired adjustment has been entered, use the OK button to begin the time adjustment. Click
Cancel to exit from the Time Adjustment window without adjusting the system time.

The time adjustment will be applied to all network nodes simultaneously, so that the network time remains
consistent. The target time is not reached immediately. The adjustment required to reach the target time is
applied gradually. It takes approximately 1 minute to adjust the time by 2 seconds.

There is no visual feedback during the time adjustment. If the Time Adjustment window is used again
before the adjustment completes, it will be overridden by any new request for a time adjustment.

11.14.2 Adjusting the Time More than 5 Minutes

If the system time needs to be adjusted by more than five minutes (300 seconds), use the procedure
described in this sub-section. The time adjustment should be performed on the node which is the time
master. Rules for time mastership are provided in the Micro-PWC Release Notes.

Note that system shutdown, stopping of applications and servers, and start up of Micro-PWCs is described
in the appropriate Release Notes.

1.

Shutdown all nodes except the node which is time master.

2.

Shutdown Micro-PWCs using the Windows Shutdown option; do not choose any options that
permit automatic restart of the computer.

3.

Stop the Micro-PWC applications and servers on the time master node.

4.

Change the time setting. (Consult the appropriate Windows documentation for information on
changing the system time.)

5.

Restart the node and verify that the time is correct.

6.

Start the other nodes on the network. On Micro-PWCs, press the

simultaneously.

NOTE

If you are setting the time back, wait an interval at least equivalent
to the value of the adjustment before proceeding. (For example, if
you are setting the time back 30 minutes, wait 30 minutes before
proceeding.)
