Micro-PWC OPERATOR’S MANUAL

Micro-PWC Features 27

To create an Operator Message, select Menu > Configure > Message Configuration. The Message Config-
uration
window (

Figure 3-3

) will be displayed.

The window is used to configure the text, priority, and destination of the Operator Message.

3.3.2.1 Message Text

To configure the text of the message, click in the text entry box located at the top of the Message Configu-
ration
window and enter a message of up to 80 ASCII characters.

3.3.2.2 Message Priority

Each message is associated with a priority. To set the priority, click in the Priority text entry box and enter
the number of the desired priority (range of 1 to 16).

3.3.2.3 Message Destination Area

Each message can be associated with a specific plant area. The Area assignment is used to route the
message to the devices (files, printers) which have been configured to receive Operator Messages associ-
ated with that area. The message will also be sent to all Micro-PWCs where users who have access to that
area are logged in. On the Micro-PWCs, the message will be displayed in the Message line (bottom line) of
the Mini-Alarm Window. To assign the Operator Message to an Area, click the Area button. The Area
Selection
window (

Figure 3-4

) will be displayed.
