Back-End

Maintenance

We recommend backing up the back-end data file daily. The backup pro-
cess varies, depending on your version of SQL Server:

If you have the full version of SQL Server, this process is provided for
by SQL Server.

If you are using SQL Express (minimal version of SQL Server 2005,
containing only basic components of SQL Server), this process is pro-
vided for by SQL Express.

If you are using MSDE (minimal version of SQL Server 2000, contain-
ing only basic components of SQL Server 2000), you will need to run
through a separate data backup procedure.

SQL Server and SQL Express provides the backup functionality needed to
protect data and backup Check In-Out data files: Enterprise Manager pro-
vides full backup and restore functionality. See the Enterprise Manager
documentation for details.

Utilities

IntelliTrack batch utilities may also be used to backup and restore the data-
base. The backup and restore methods are explained in the following sec-
tion:

“Batch Utilities” on page 9

Batch Utilities

Backup and Restore batch utilities may be used to perform a daily database
backup and a restore on the last backup.

Note: When you are using MSDE (without the full version of SQL Server)
without a full version of Microsoft Access this is the only backup and
restore option available.
