3.

Enter the unique item ID in the Item ID field. (No quantity entry is
required, because it is always assumed to be a quantity of one.
Although many items exist, they are identified individually with unique
Item ID numbers in the inventory.)
If the item ID already exists in the system, the location is the normal
location (when not checked out) associated with the item ID; hence you
are not required to enter a location. Also, the item number is the item
associated with the item ID; hence you are not required to enter an item
number.

4.

If the item ID is new, a dialog box appears to notify you that the item
ID was not found and asking you if you want to add it to the database.
Select Yes to close the dialog box and add the item ID to the database.
(Select No to cancel adding it to the database.)

The Retire screen reappears. It contains three new fields: Site, Loca-
tion
, and Item #.
