Pass and Fail options do not apply to Filter file and String settings. Consider the String setting as the top level test.
Those that pass this test (if any), are then passed through the Filter file (if any). Given a Filter file setting, criteria
settings are then applied against messages that fail the Filter file(s). Given no Filter file, then the criteria is applied
to all messages that meet the String setting.

String: This is where you may enter a string of characters which Web ViewPoint should match in the text of each
message. You can also elect whether the match logic should be case sensitive.
Note: The following characters are not allowed in the search string ‘: / ?& =’

Event Type: A combination of the types of events that should be shown can be specified by selecting the
appropriate radio button. The different event types are Critical, Non-Critical and Action. For each of the types, the
options are All, Outstanding, Acknowledged and None. Outstanding events are events that have not been
acknowledged by any user. Please note that the Pass Value options override the options specified in the event
type.

C. Display: This area is designated for you to determine display options and formats for messages meeting the

above criteria. Following items are available:

Up To: Specify how many Event messages should be displayed per Window. Once the selected Event messages are
displayed, you will have navigation buttons (next/switch) buttons available to retrieve more data. Also specify the
sort order for the displayed information, and whether duplicate data should be displayed. Events are considered
to be duplicates if they have the same Subsystem, Event number, and Subject token. Please note when ‘From and
To’ dates are specified, this ‘Up to’ setting will not apply.

From and/or To:
Specify a date and/or time range to be used by Web ViewPoint to retrieve messages for. You may
specify either a ‘From’ date/time, or ‘To’ date/time or both. Dates may be selected off the calendar control (click
on its icon), or typed in (yyyy-mm-dd). Time may be typed in (hh:mm:ss) manually. You may enter time next to a
date (e.g. 2004-01-01 13:00:00), or by itself. Today’s date is assumed when a date entry is absent.

Use Template: An EMS Template determines the type and order of information displayed per EMS Event. By
default, Web ViewPoint uses an internal system layout to display the information. You may however choose any
other EMS Template available to you. Simply check the box in this section, and enter the name and location
($vol.subvol.file) of the file on the NonStop Server. Alternatively, you may use the List button to locate a Template
file. This is how it works:
On your first click, when the entry box is empty, it displays a list of disk drives. You may click on a disk to select it.
Its name will be carried to the entry box.

If you have already selected or entered the name of a disk/volume, a click on the same List button exposes a list of
sub-volumes. You may click on a sub-volume name to select it. Its name will be carried to the entry box.
