Message Text: Contains the body of the message that was received from the Server. This text is sent out as an

Email/SMS/SNMP trap or spoken out depending on the specified delivery method.

Recd. From: Indicates the NonStop Node from which the notification was received from.
Time Received: Indicates the time in the Local Time at which the notification was received.
Subscriber: Displays the first subscriber in the subscriber list who subscribed to the event that caused the

notification to be sent out. The entire list can be viewed in the Message Detail screen.

Mode: Specifies the Delivery method of the notification.
Status icon: Indicates the connectivity of the Desktop Component with the NonStop Server. If it is able to

communicate with the Message Center server component on at least one NonStop server, the icon is GREEN.
If not then it is RED. The server components send out Keep-Alive messages at a specified frequency to the
Desktop component to indicate connectivity.

Operations:The following operations are possible from the Main Screen.
ACK icon indicates that the EMS event corresponding to the notification can be acknowledged by clicking on

the

icon. (Notepad) icon indicates that the EMS event corresponding to the notification has already been

acknowledged. To view the acknowledgement information, click on the (Notepad) icon. Multiple notifications
can be ACKed simultaneously by checking the corresponding boxes and clicking on the icon in the toolbar.

Delete: Deletes the messages from the local database. To delete message(s), check the corresponding boxes

and clicking on the

icon in the toolbar.

Configure Properties - To view/update configuration of the Message Center click on the icon in the

toolbar. Information such as Port Number, Database cleanup, Email account configuration, and server
communication is configurable

5.7.1.2 CONFIGURATION

The following parameters can be configured within the PC Component:

Port Number: Specifies the Port at which the Desktop component listens. This must be the same number specified
in the Primary or Secondary port section in the Message Center Admin section on the NonStop server. Updating
the port number requires restarting Message Center. Also, this port should not be used by any other process
running on the PC.

Delete Messages Before:
Specifies the date for the retention of the messages received by the Desktop
Component. Messages that were received before the specified date are deleted. The date format is (mm-dd-yyyy).
Updating this parameter requires restarting Message Center.

Retain messages on screen:
Specifies the number of messages to be shown on the screen. Default Value:50.
Maximum value: 50.

Email:

SMTP server: Specifies the mail server DNS name or IP address through which Email notifications are to be

sent out to.

Email Account: Email address of the account to be used to send out Email notifications.
Password: Password of the Email account to be used to send out Email notifications.

Server Communication:
Frequency: Interval at which a Keep Alive message is expected from the Web ViewPoint server component.

This is required for identifying the connection state. Default is 20 sec.

Number of Messages Missed: Specifies the number of Keep Alive messages that can be missed before

indicating disconnected state.

Error Notification: Specifies whether error notification should be sent to the server component.
