synchronized library of IP and port addresses for all Web ViewPoint installations on the Expand network.

Community Awareness: The ability of one Web ViewPoint Window to display a list of all known NonStop

Servers/Nodes, and organize them by their Neighborhood (Expand network), or Resident status.

Neighborhood Inquiry: The ability of a Web ViewPoint session to inquire about another Resident of the same

Neighborhood (any other resident of the same Expand network).

Note the use of the above terms: Resident and Neighborhood, as opposed to Node and Expand are to signify the
WVP architecture as it applies to Residents where Web ViewPoint is installed. Features described here apply only
to Web ViewPoint Residents and Neighborhoods. Furthermore, the concept of Community lends itself to larger
organizations where multiple neighborhoods are operated and monitored by the same staff.

Refer to

Section 2.8

for details on creating neighborhoods and setting up the Central Router feature.

Note: Throughout this documentation you will find the terms Resident instead of Node and Neighborhood instead
of Expand.

1.3 INSTALLATION OVERVIEW

Under most circumstances installing Web ViewPoint is a fairly simple process, it offers the users an installation
Wizard to automate most of the install and upgrade process. Configuration data is collected either through user
input or copied from an existing configuration to the PC then the configuration files are built and pushed to and
installed on the NonStop server. This process greatly simplifies and streamlines the Web ViewPoint install and/or
upgrade process.

1.3.1 FIRST TIME USER

The install Wizard prompts the user in the beginning of the process on whether or not this is a first time
installation to the particular subvolume the user has in mind. Once this condition is set the install process will
systematically execute the required steps for the installation. After the user has input all of the required
configuration data the system automatically builds all the required installation files and moves the files to the
NonStop host and completes the installation. In just a few minutes the system can be up and running. To simplify
the installation process, most input data have default values which under normal circumstances will provide
sufficient information to get the system up and running quickly.

Web ViewPoint also offers the users an easy way to install multiple nodes via multi-node Wizard installation. With
the help of this feature users can easily install multiple nodes in only one installation eliminating the need of
installing each node in multiple installations. For more information please refer to

Section 2.3.1.1
