 Node Name
 IP address / Fully Qualified DNS name
 Installation subvolume name and location
 TCP process name
 TCP/IP program Name
 Prefix to use for Web ViewPoint process names
 The port numbers from where Web ViewPoint and the other modules are going to run.

Apart from the above mandatory parameters certain other optional parameters are also requested by the installer
before going ahead with installation. If these parameters are not provided by the user then the installer goes
ahead with the default values of these parameters.

For multiple resident installations, the installer, before installing in each of the residents, reconfirms all the above
parameters. Thus if the subvolume, port number or any other parameter differs from resident to resident, that can
be set for each resident.

In case of an upgrade, the installer in addition to the above parameters, also asks for the previous
$volume.subvolume name and the current installation $volume.subvolume name. If the user wants configuration
and database files to be imported from the previous $volume.subvolume the installer does that before proceeding
with the final installation.

Web ViewPoint now offers the users a feature to ‘import over’ the configuration files to the existing or same
subvolume. In the previous versions the users had the ability to import over to a new installation subvolume only,
with this release the users can now upgrade by importing over to the same subvolume. During this process, the
installer requests for a backup $volume.subvolume which copies all the configuration files of the older version
(import subvolume) to the specified backup subvolume & then upgrades the Web ViewPoint to the version you
specified. The backup subvolume holds all the old configuration files intact.

The installer allows the user to quit installation at any point in time.

COMMON FEATURES IN ALL INSTALLER PAGES:
Once you have completed all the pre-installation tasks specified in the

Section 2.2

, you may proceed with the

install. The Wizard will ask for inputs to determine the configuration in several steps. Each step is represented by a
page or Wizard window. Most of the pages have the following buttons:
Help: Display the particular help window. Help can also be activated by pressing the keyboard help key, which

is typically F1.

Default: When present this button will populate some of the input fields with system default values. The

default function is used where possible and will not be available on all pages.

Prev: When present this button allows you to go back to a previous page and adjust/modify input fields. If you

go back, the page will be populated with previously selected values.

Next/Advanced: This will save the values in the current page and take you to the next installation step.
Finish: Four of the pages contain this button. This means that the remaining steps can be skipped by using

system default values for those steps. Process name configuration is the first page to contain this button.
Clicking this button will take you to the 'Display configuration' page that shows the overall settings selected by
you. Remember, you can go back to any previous page and modify these settings.

Quit:Use this button to cancel or stop the installation. The Wizard will ask for a confirmation. Your install is not

complete and must be restarted.

Pages with input text fields provide input format checking before going to the next page.
