 If the creator of OCM wants to grant access of sensitive commands to certain other users, then it can be done

by adding a list of users to the “tacl” object. This is explained in the

Section 3.3.2.1

.

COMMAND-ID
This indicates the type of the command being specified:
BIP
This command identifier is typically used to retrieve instances for a particular object. Instances can be retrieved by
following the command identifier BIP by either of:

i.

CPU^INSTANCES
Retrieves the list of CPUs configured for the system, using the PROCESSORSTATUS guardian
procedure.
e.g.(cpu) [READ] {INSTANCES} BIP CPU^INSTANCES

ii.

BY^FILE^OPENER(filename)
Retrieves instances/names of processes by the file they have opened
e.g. (pool) [READ] {INSTANCES} BIP BY^FILE^OPENER(<$SYSTEM.SYSNN>.OPP)

Filename can be specified as:
The standard filename format $VOL.SUBVOL.FILENAME, or<$SYSTEM.SYSNN>.FILENAME. This
indicates that the file is present in either $SYSTEM.SYSTEM volume or in the current system image
subvolume (SYS00, SYS01…etc) where the “NN” is not known.
Note: While specifying the filename as <$SYSTEM.SYSNN>.filename, do not replace “NN” by a
number.

iii.

NSK^TYPE^SUBTYPE (TYPE=m, SUBTYPE=n)
Retrieves instances by a NonStop device type/ subtype. The type and subtype can be set to a number
or, if it is set to “-1” then it acts as a wildcard
e.g. (disk) [READ] {INSTANCES} BIP NSK^TYPE^AND^SUBTYPE(TYPE=3, SUBTYPE=-1)

NEX

This indicates that the command is non executable, and cannot be used to retrieve instances. This command
type is used, only for the EVENTS, ADD or ALTER command.

This command type is also used to specify a user list in the tacl, logon and users objects for granting user
access to Object Manager. This is explained in the

Section 3.3.2.1

.

When NEX is used for the “EVENTS” command, then it must be followed by the word SUBSYS and the actual
SubSystem name.

e.g.(adapter) [READ] {EVENTS} NEX SUBSYS STORAGE

Clicking this command will enable the user to find Events for the STORAGE SubSystem.

When NEX is used for the “ADD/ ALTER” command, a click on the command will enable the user to specify/ set
a list of defined attributes and what their values can be.

The ALTER command can be used to alter the properties of an Object. An explanation of the attributes in the
ALTER command is explained as under:
