4.2.2.3 DISPLAYING EMS EVENT HELP &TOKEN DUMP

You may retrieve and display help text (where available) for a selected Event, along with a dump of all tokens
included with the Event message. The help text is retrieved from one of two databases on the host. This contains
information such as summary and detail description of the reported message. Also included, is information on
Cause of the Event, its Effect on the system or applications, and Recovery methods.

To display this information, simply click on the sequence number of the Event message. Web ViewPoint first
searches its BAM (Business Application Manual) database for any available help text.

BAM database is empty when Web ViewPoint is first installed on your HP NonStop Server. You may then use a
BAM maintenance tool to enter information specific to messages generated by your in-house applications, or to
enter preferred content for Events generated by NonStop system programs. Next, HP’s Operator Messages
Manual (file EVENTTX) is consulted, if there are no entries in the BAM database for the selected Event. Any
information found is displayed, in absence of BAM content. Note that if BAM data is displayed, a link will also be
present to give you access to the relevant content in the Operator Messages Manual as a secondary source of
information.

Note that you can always display and access the Operator Message manual in its entirety by clicking on the icon on

the upper right side of the screen.

A link labeled “User provided info” is displayed below the help content which opens a new Window where you can
enter additional text you wish to record with EMS in association with this selected Event.

Detail Token Dump fields and values are also displayed at the bottom of the screen, labeled as Token Dump. This
content too varies from one Event to the next, and simply displays whatever information the process chose to
include with its EMS message.

4.2.3 TOKEN ANALYZER

Token Analyzer may be used to retrieve and perform analysis on all Tokens of a set of selected EMS Event
messages. There are two ways where you can specify which Events it should retrieve Tokens for:

The

Token Analyzer

Settings Window is displayed if this feature is selected off the menu. There you can specify the

desired parameters to specify which Event messages should be retrieved.

You may also go directly to a

Token Analyzer Analysis

, Window from a

Live EMS Events Monitor

Events Monitor, or

a

Query View Window

. There is an icon designated for this purpose on each of these Windows. This retrieves

from the NonStop Server, a list of all Tokens for the messages currently displayed on that screen (up to first 500
messages).

All Tokens for selected Events will be retrieved and displayed in the

Token Analyzer Analysis

Window,
