2.3.1 WIZARD INSTALLATION (PC-BASED) OVERVIEW

The Wizard builds all of the NonStop configuration files on the PC, optionally allowing you to import a single
existing Web ViewPoint configuration, then automatically FTPs or SFTP the files to the NonStop and initiates WVP.
Normally this should take less than 15 minutes, provided you have a few items of configuration data at your
fingertips. The Wizard has defaults for nearly all required parameters; therefore if you are a new user your data
input requirements are minimal. Once you get the software installed and operational you can easily adjust your
configuration to fit your specific needs.

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS:
 Using different subvols, process naming conventions and port numbers allow you to run more than 1 instance

of WVP on a single node.

 A Super Group Logon is best for the install because some files require privileged code licensing (i.e. FINFLIB

and FINFO).

 On a single install you can install WVP on more than 1 node using the Wizard, just use the Multi-Node option.

Be sure you have all the configuration details for each node before starting (see preparation requirements
below). All nodes during a multi-node installation must be of the same type, e.g. two G-series nodes or three
H-series nodes. Post-install, nodes of different types can be added to the neighborhood using the SYNC
program.

 The install uses FTP/Telnet or SFTP/SSH session between the PC and the NonStop. Make sure the PC you use

for the install has connectivity to your NonStop.

 For the EMS Event Notifications feature to provide Email/SMS notifications, Web ViewPoint needs to be

configured as defined in one of the following Sections; In ‘Direct from NonStop’ mode(

Section 3.2.4.1

) or the

optional ‘Message Center PC Component’ (

Section 5.7.1

) and its associated plug-in components need to be

installed and configured.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR IMPORTING AN EXISTING CONFIGURATION:
 Importing a single existing configuration is optional and must be a version of Web ViewPoint AAH or later.
 Importing an existing configuration requires that instance of WVP be stopped during the install (the stopping

of that instance is done by with Wizard if the Wizard has the necessary security permissions).

 The Import Function only uses the configuration data from 1 node and then propagates that configuration to

the various nodes when performing a multi-node install. The install provides options for the $Vol.Subvol
location of the product files for each node.

 Importing to the same or existing subvolume overwrites the older version with the new version of Web

ViewPoint.

to have a single-resident installation or multi-resident installation. For single-resident installation, please follow

Section 2.3.1.2,

or for multi-resident follow

Section 2.3.1.3

.

2.3.1.2 SINGLE NODE

The second window of the installation Wizard gives you a choice of single-resident or multi-resident installation.
Select ‘Single-node’ radio button and click ‘Next. The next window is designed to gather information for one
resident. It has four input text fields.

the SysGen). The maximum length is 8 ASCII characters, including '\'. Examples: \SIERRA, \DRP17, etc.
