2.1 Making User Authentication/Account Track
This machine can be set up so that users are allowed to use the following functions after gaining authentica-
tion by entering their user name, user password, account name and account password (one of these, or more
than one in combination), which were configured by the administrator. Also, the machine can be set to allow
the following functions by holding an IC card over Authentication Unit (IC Card Type) AU-201. This setting
is referred to as the user authentication/account track.

2.1.1 Authentication Based on User Password/Account Password
This section describes the operation to gain user/account authentication by entering a user/account pass-
word.
0 Users who have been assigned a user name and password may use the machine, including the func-
tions and output within the upper limit configured by the administrator.

Users who have been assigned an account name and account password may use the machine, includ-
ing the functions and output within the upper limit configured by the administrator.
0 If public users are allowed to use the machine, you can use this machine as a public user by pressing
[Allow] for Public User on the Authentication Method Screen. The administrator configures the functions
available for public users and the upper limit for output.
0 Registered user names are listed in the [User List] Screen.
0 If the reset function is activated, or Access on the control panel is pressed, it returns to the User
Auth./Account Track Screen even if you are working on the screen that requires the proper credential.

When Enhanced Security mode is set ON for the machine, the User Auth./Account Track Screen is dis-
played every time a user attempts to use the function that requires authentication. In this case, pass-
words less than 8 alphanumeric characters/symbols becomes invalid and cannot be authenticated.
When you enter a wrong user name or password, you must wait 5 seconds to reenter it. The [User List]
is no longer displayed.
0 User names may be up to 64 alphanumeric characters including symbols, user passwords may be up
to 64 alphanumeric characters, and account names and account passwords may be 8 alphanumeric
characters or less.

Enter the user name, user password, account name, and/or account password, as required. One of the
following five screens will be displayed. Please follow the instructions provided for each screen.
% The screen shown below requires a user name and user password.
% Enter only a user name when a user password is not set for that user.
% If the administrator sets Synchronize User/Account Track function to Synchronize, you cannot be
authenticated by entering just a user name and password unless you have preliminarily registered
your account in combination.
