2.1.2

Authentication Using IC Card

This section describes the operation to gain user/account authentication by using an IC card.

0

The machine can be set to operate user authentication by IC cards. In this case, users can also be au-
thenticated by entering a user name and user password.

0

The machine can be set to operate account authentication by IC cards. In this case, users can also be
authenticated by entering an account password only, or an account name and account password in
combination.

0

The machine can be set to operate both user authentication and account authentication by IC cards. In
this case, the Synchronize User/Account Track function is automatically set to Synchronize so that us-
ers, even without using IC cards, can also gain both user authentication and account authentication by
entering a user name and user password preliminarily registered with an account. You cannot get au-
thenticated by entering a user name and user password without an account registered in combination.

0

If you set [OFF] for [Service Port Device] of [12 Service Port Device Setting] in the User Setting accessed
from the Utility menu, the machine no longer recognizes Authentication Unit (IC Card Type) AU-201
and cannot operate authentication by IC cards.

0

If you disconnect the USB cable of Authentication Unit (IC Card Type) AU-201 from the main body
while registering the authentication data, a cross mark appears on the illustration of the IC card on the
authentication screen.

0

When the USB cable of Authentication Unit (IC Card Type) AU-201 is connected to the USB port of
the main body, it will be automatically recognized.

0

One IC card can be registered per user. A user cannot register multiple IC cards. To register a new IC
card for previously registered user, overwrite the existing IC card information.

0

Two types of the IC card are available, FeliCa and Type A. The machine can be set to accept both types,
however, a user can register only one type.

0

The same IC card cannot be registered for different users.

0

The card information registered with the IC card can be deleted.

1

If the machine is set up to use IC cards for user authentication/account track, it displays one of the fol-
lowing three screens depending on the setting. Please follow the instructions provided for each screen.

% The screen shown below is for users who have been assigned a user name and user password.

Some users may have a specified account.

% Hold the IC card which has been registered in the user registration over Authentication Unit (IC

Card Type) AU-201.

% The IC card without an account registered in combination cannot be authenticated if [Manage] is

selected for Account Track in Authentication Method.

% Even without an IC card, users can also be authenticated by entering a user name and user pass-

word. If [Manage] is selected for Account Track and [Synchronize] is selected for Synchronize Us-
er/Account Track in Authentication Method, you cannot be authenticated without an account
registered at the time of user authentication.
