selected speed on its display (1).

5.2 Setting the heating bath temperature

Heating bath knob is set to left stop.

Heating bath is filled with heating medium.

Rotary evaporator is operational and the power switch is on.

Surface temperatures in excess of 60°C during heating bath operation!

Danger of burns.

Do not touch the inside and upper edge of the heating bath, the

evaporating flask and the heating bath medium.

Wear protective gloves when changing the evaporating flask.

Overheated heating bath!

Damage and changes to the appearance of the heating bath.

Never use the heating bath without liquid.

Damage to the guard hood!

Set a maximum setpoint of 120 °C for operation with a guard hood.

The temperature difference between the heating bath and the vapour should

be at least 20 K to ensure an adequate distillation rate.
As a rule of thumb, doubling the temperature difference will double the

distillation rate.

Use a suitable oil as a heating bath medium for setpoint temperatures in

excess of 100°C (observe safety data sheets, see chapter 4.4.2, page 83).
The message OIL will appear on the display of the heating bath (4) for one

second when setting temperatures higher than 100°C.
