2 Basic safety instructions

This state-of-the-art rotary evaporator has been designed to comply with

recognised safety regulations. Nevertheless, certain hazards must be

considered when installing, using and maintaining the instrument.

Follow safety instructions and warnings.

The basic safety instructions in this chapter are supplemented by specific

warnings throughout this manual. These warnings explain precisely how to

act in order to protect yourself or other persons from injury and property from

damage.
This manual is a component of the Laborota 4000 /4001 efficient, Laborota

4010 / 4011 digital, Laborota 4002 / 4003 control rotary evaporators.

Keep this manual in a convenient location.

Be sure to give this manual to subsequent owners of the instrument.

2.1 General safety instructions

The rotary evaporator may only be used

in technically sound condition

according to the intended use

if the operator has the necessary awareness of safety and potential

hazards

if the instructions in this manual are observed

Malfunctions – especially those that impair the instrument's safety – must be

corrected without delay.

2.2 Intended

use

Laborota 4000 /4001 efficient, Laborota 4010 / 4011 digital, Laborota 4002 /

4003 are rotary evaporators for:

evaporating solutions

powder drying

distillation

synthesis

cleanup of chemicals

Soxhlet extraction

Any application other than those stated above shall be deemed inappropriate.
The manufacturer shall bear no liability for damage arising from such

applications.
The risk shall be borne solely by the operator. Intended use includes following

the instructions in this manual and observing the terms of inspection and

maintenance (see chapter

8.1, page 122).
