6.2 Setting the heating bath temperature

Heating bath is filled with heating medium.

Rotary evaporator is switched on at the instrument base power switch

(Fig.

6-1 (10)) and operational.

Surface temperatures in excess of 60°C during heating bath operation!

Danger of burns.

Do not touch the inside and upper edge of the heating bath, the

evaporating flask and the heating bath medium.

Wear protective gloves when changing the evaporating flask.

Overheated heating bath!

Damage and changes to the appearance of the heating bath.

Never use the heating bath without liquid.

Damage to the guard hood!

Set a maximum setpoint of 120 °C for operation with a guard hood.

Use a suitable oil as a heating bath medium for setpoint temperatures in

excess of 100°C (observe safety data sheets, see chapter 4.4.2, page 83).
The message OIL will appear on the display of the heating bath

(Fig. 6-1 (8)) for one second when setting temperatures higher than 100°C.

1. Switch on the heating bath with its power switch (Fig. 6-1 (18)).

The heating bath power switch will be lit green (Fig. 6-1 (18)).

2. Use the heating bath knob (Fig.

6-1 (16)) to set the temperature at least

20°C higher than the required temperature.

3. Press

6-1 (6)) until Set Bath LED is lit.

4. Use the arrow buttons (Fig.

6-1 (9)) to set the setpoint temperature.

The setpoint temperature is visible on the display (Fig. 6-1 (8)). After

5 seconds, the current actual temperature appears on the display and the
Act Bath

LED is lit.

The lit yellow heating bath signal lamp (Fig. 6-1 (17)) over the heating bath

power switch (Fig. 6-1 (18)) indicates that the heating bath is warming up.
