11 System software upgrade
11.2 Uploading the system software and license files
11.2.1 Establishing the configuration task
Applicable environment
A
CAUTION
• Before you upload the system software, reserve at least 25M (25120K) of disk space for
flash memory to ensure sufficient space for the system software package.
• Place the license files at the root directory of the flash memory of the master and slave
RPUs.
When the system software of a router does not meet your current requirements, you need to
upgrade the system software.
Preconfiguration tasks
Before you upload the system software and license, complete the following tasks:
•
Ensure that the router operates normally.
•
Ensure that you can log on to the router.
Data preparation
To upload the system software and license, you need the following data:
•
new version of system software
•
license files of the new version

11.2.2 Uploading the system software and license to the master
RPU
Upload the system software and license files to the flash memory of the master RPU. You can
upload files through FTP, TFTP, and Xmodem. Choose the uploading method based on your
requirements.
